RIP OF THE SUN, 2024

RIP OF THE SUN is an Indian inspired brooch which combines two shapes often explored in Andrew's Wearable Art, a boteh - the curved teardrop shape used in paisley patterns - and a shining sun. It was created by Sculptor Andrew Logan in 2024.

This unusual design will add intrigue and interest to every outfit.

To the left hand side of the piece the boteh form is created using an unusual piece of Indian embroidery. This teardrop-shaped piece contains a sunflower design, created using golden sequins, gold/ yellow beads and yellow and green thread. To the right side of the brooch is a green and yellow sun, created using handmade, mirror glass.

Andrew has placed three pieces of golden glass and a red bead underneath the boteh, and from the tip of the teardrop hangs an unusual glass bead, and an oval drop, pearlescent bead. This bead dangles freely bringing some dynamism to the piece.

All of these elements are set into black resin, which has been sprinkled with green glitter. The back of the brooch bears the title of the piece, signed and dated by Andrew.

The piece has the feel of a talisman or charm, and is part of a new Wearable Art collection of Goddess pieces, referencing Andrew's 1984 Goddesses exhibition, and celebrating Alternative Miss World 2026 - GAIA.

This unique brooch measures approximately 16 by 10 cm at its widest points and weighs 76 g.  It can be attached to your chosen garment using a gold coloured safety pin embedded in the resin on the reverse.

This piece of wearable art has been joyfully created with love by artist Andrew Logan in his studio in Mid-Wales. This brooch will be packaged in a gift box and sent to you via Special Delivery.
